Men's tennis opens PAC slate with 7-2 win at W&J

WASHINGTON, Pa. (March 28) - The Saint Vincent men's tennis team opened up Presidents' Athletic Conference play with a 7-2 win against the Washington & Jefferson Presidents.

In doubles play, the Bearcats rolled to matching 8-2 wins at first and second doubles. Jack Citrone and Sam Butler teamed up at number one while David Lynn and Evan Ray occupied the two holes. Brian Lee and Kyle Murray gave SVC a 3-0 edge after doubles with a thrilling 8-7(4) win at third doubles.

In singles, Lynn was first off the court with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number five. Lynn beat Murray off the court by only a minute before the freshman clinched the win for Saint Vincent with a 6-2, 6-1 win at sixth singles. Ray and Citrone rounded out the victories with straight sets wins at third and fourth, respectively.

The win snaps the Bearcats' three-match losing streak and has their record sitting at 3-3 (1-0 PAC). The team will be back in action for a non-conference road match against McDaniel on Saturday, April 1.
