GREENSBURG, Pa. (Apr. 17)- The Saint Vincent men's tennis team defeated PAC opponent Westminster 6-2 at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
 
The win for Saint Vincent (7-6, 4-2 PAC) over Westminster (3-8, 2-4 PAC), clinches the Bearcats a spot in the PAC Tournament which begins next week.
 
The Bearcats won two out of the three doubles matches, winning in number two and number three doubles. Evan Ray and David Lynn teamed up for an 8-1 win in number two doubles and Kyle Murray and Brian Lee picked up a win in number three doubles to give Saint Vincent a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.
 
In singles play the Bearcats added another four wins in the six matches. Jack Citrone increased the Bearcats lead to 3-1, picking up a 6-1, 6-0 win in number three singles. Lee followed that up with a 6-3, 6-3 win in number one singles.
 
Lynn clinched the match for the Bearcats in number five singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win. Ray picked up the last win of the afternoon for SVC with 6-4, 5-7, and 10-2 win in the tiebreaker to win the point. Murray's match in number six singles ended in a did not finish due to time restraints on the courts.
 
The Bearcats close out their home schedule in their next match on Wednesday, April 19 when they play host to Franciscan on senior day. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the SVC Courts.
