LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 12) – The Saint Vincent College women's volleyball team has earned the 2023 U.S. Marine Corps/American Volleyball Coaches Association Team Academic Award.
The honor recognizes volleyball teams that maintain a year-long team grade point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale.
"The commitment our coaches make to help their student-athletes pursue the best versions of themselves is evident in the academic accomplishments highlighted today," said AVCA CEO Jaime Gordon.
For the Bearcats, coached by Sue Hozak, this marks the fifth consecutive season in which they earned the Team Academic Award, and 11th time overall.
In March, 11 SVC women's volleyball team members were named to the Presidents' Athletic Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, which recognizes student-athletes who achieve a grade point average of 3.60 or higher during their season of competition. SVC honorees included seniors

Madie Marsico; juniors
Lauren Turkovich and
Luciana Polk; sophomores
Taylor Sheesley,
Vivian Poach, and
Stacie Ramos; and freshmen

Julia Silva.
A total of 1,333 men's and women's high school, NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA and junior college volleyball teams from across the U.S. were recipients the 2023 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award.
