FREDONIA, New York (Sept. 12)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team fell to 2-3 on the early season after a 7-2 defeat against Fredonia on Tuesday evening.

Fredonia outscored the Bearcats 5-1 in the first half and Saint Vincent was unable to recover as they were outscored slightly in the second half as well by a 2-1 margin.

SVC recorded eight shots, including six shots on goal. The Blue Devils tallied 22 shots, with 12 coming in the first half and ten in the second half. The Bearcat goalies compiled 15 saves compared to four saves by Fredonia.

The Bearcats also committed 16 fouls compared to just four by the Blue Devils. Fredonia was awarded six corner kicks and the Bearcats recorded three corners, one in the first half and two in the second half.

It was a quick start for the Blue Devils as Fredonia's Brian Taylor scored his fifth goal of the season just 55 seconds into the match to give Fredonia a quick 1-0 lead. The Blue Devils then followed that up with another goal in the 15
th minute to increase their lead to 2-0.

Saint Vincent answered as
Oziel Bonola-Soriano scored his second goal of the season on an assist from
Mattia Speretta to cut the Blue Devils lead in half at 2-1.

The rest of the half it was all Fredonia as the Blue Devils scored three more goals, with all three goals coming in a seven-minute span, giving them a 5-1 lead heading into the half.

In the second half, SVC found the back of the net first as
Ethan Bridges scored his first of the season. Bridges goal was unassisted, cutting the Fredonia lead to 5-2.

It was all Blue Devils the rest of the way as they scored two more goals to record the 7-2 victory.

Kameron Rock and
Chrystiaan Sexton split the day in goal for Saint Vincent. Rock got the start giving up five goals while also making seven saves in the first half. Sexton allowed two goals and made five saves in the second half for the Bearcats.

David Rahaman,
Mariano Jiminez, and
Joshua Heller all recorded one shot on goal for SVC in the loss as well.

The Bearcats look to end their short two-game skid when they play host to Penn State Mont Alto in a non-conference matchup on Thursday, September 14. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. at UPMC Field on Thursday.
