STEUBENVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 19)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 sweep against PAC foe Franciscan to end the Bearcats two-game losing streak.

Kaelyn Staples and
Lauren Fox led the way for the Bearcats with seven kills each, while
Jessica Hughes added six kills in the win.
Madie Eagler recorded 26 assists, which was a team-high for the Bearcats, while also recording nine digs as well.
Stacie Ramos tallied a game-high 20 digs.

Luciana Polk had a solid game for SVC as well, recording ten digs, while also picking up five kills.
Alexis DiFuccia added three kills for Saint Vincent and
Nicolena Yanosick recorded one kill and six digs coming off the bench for the Bearcats.

Franciscan took an early lead in the first set as they scored five of the first six points. SVC stormed back with a 9-4 run, including scoring four in a row on a kill by Eagler, two kills by Hughes, and an attack error by the Barons as Saint Vincent took a 10-9 lead.

The teams traded the next few points as the Bearcats still held a slight one-point lead at 15-14. The Barons battled back over the next couple of points to tie the set up at 18-18. Saint Vincent once again answered, scoring the next four points on kills by Polk and Yanosick, mixed between two errors by Franciscan as Saint Vincent led 22-18.

After the Barons scored the next three points to cut the Bearcats lead to 22-21, SVC scored the final three out of four points to end the set. Polk, Fox, and Hughes recorded kills to hand Saint Vincent the 25-22 opening set win, taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

It was Franciscan who took the first advantage in the second set as well as the Barons took an early 4-2 lead. SVC once again stormed back outscoring Franciscan 11-9 over the next few points as the set was tied 13-13. The teams continued to trade the next few points as the Barons took a slight 20-19 lead.

The Bearcats answered with another late run, scoring five in a row and six of the final seven points, clinching the set on a kill from Fox to win the set 25-21, taking a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.

Saint Vincent controlled the entirety of the final set as they never lost the lead. The Bearcats opened up to a 12-5 lead after four straight points coming on three errors by the Barons and a kill from Fox. Franciscan slightly cut into the lead but the Bearcats still led at 20-15.

SVC scored four of the final five points of the set on a kill by DiFuccia and three errors by Franciscan to win the set 25-16 and the match 3-0.

The Bearcats compiled 32 kills, six service aces, one block, 28 assists, and 61 digs as a team in the dominant victory.

Saint Vincent returns to action this weekend, traveling to Mount Aloysius College for a tri-match on Saturday, September 23. The Bearcats will take on the host Mounties first at 11 a.m. before concluding their day with a matchup against Pitt-Greensburg at 1 p.m.
