WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Sept. 27)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team fell by a 1-0 final score on the road at Waynesburg on Wednesday night.

The Yellow Jackets scored a late goal in the 76
th minute, which turned out to be the difference maker in the match.

The Bearcats accumulated just nine shots over the course of the game, with two of those shots being on goal.
Andres Mateos Carrion and
Netochi Ibe were the lone two Bearcats to record shots on goal.
Mattia Speretta also recorded two shots, neither of which were recorded on goal.

Giuseppe Loiacono and
Erwin Suarez also recorded shots on goal coming off of the bench.
Kameron Rock took the loss in net for SVC, making six saves, including a couple key saves to keep Saint Vincent in striking distance.
Ethan Bridges also recorded one shot as well for SVC in the loss.

It was a defensive first half as neither team was able to crack the scoreboard. Both teams had a couple of opportunities to break the scoreless tie, but both goalies remained strong as the score was tied 0-0 at the half.

In the first half, Waynesburg outshot Saint Vincent 6-4 with the Bearcats recording two saves and the Yellow Jackets recording one. Both teams recorded one corner kick in the half and Waynesburg committed 11 fouls in comparison to five from SVC.

It was much of the same story for the majority of the second half as well as both defenses remained strong for the first 30 minutes and change of the half. Waynesburg scored what would be the deciding goal in the 76
th minute as Connor Jacobs scored his second goal of the season, coming on an assist by Taylor McFarland.

The Bearcats had a couple late scoring chances in the remaining 14 minutes, but none were able to find the back of the net as Waynesburg escaped with the shutout win.

Waynesburg outshot SVC 12-9 over the course of the match, with seven of those 12 shots being on goal. The Bearcats recorded one corner kick in comparison to two from Waynesburg. Saint Vincent committed just eight fouls and the Yellow Jackets committed 14.

Saint Vincent looks to get back on track when they play host Geneva on Saturday, September 30 in a PAC matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. at UPMC Field on the campus of Saint Vincent College.
