GREENVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 29) – Placing five runners in the top 17, the Saint Vincent College men's cross country team won the Thiel Tomcat Invitational.
The Bearcats' impressive performance was paced by freshman
Jonah Weaver, who placed sixth in the 8-kilometer race with a time of 28:40, two spots and nine seconds ahead of sophomore teammate
Matthew Thomas (28:49).
Sophomore
Michael Drazga was a third Bearcat runner to card a top-10 finish, placing 10th in the 63-runner field with a time of 28:53.
Junior
Braden Rankin and sophomore
Ryan Cawley rounded out the SVC scoring five, with Rankin taking 16th in 29:27 and Cawley 17th in 29:37.
The Bearcats finished with 56 points, edging second-place Washington & Jefferson, who totaled 60. Franciscan (68), Waynesburg (75) and Thiel (130) rounded out the top five in the team standings.
The Bearcats' busy weekend will continue tomorrow, as a contingent of SVC runners will take part in the prestigious Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.
