LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 29) - The Saint Vincent College women's tennis team saw its 3-match winning streak snapped after an 8-1 loss to Westminster College on the SVC Courts.
Sophomore
Carolina Walters pulled out the Bearcats' (6-2, 3-2 PAC) lone win of the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 1 singles.
The Titans (6-2, 3-1 PAC) took a 3-0 lead after sweeping the three doubles matches, with the SVC No. 3 tandem of
Abby Donnelly and
Lydia Lieb edged 8-7 in a marathon match.
Though SVC managed just one singles win, each match was competitive, with both
Emily Pierce (No. 3 singles) and Donnelly (No. 6) each falling in three sets. Lieb was also involved in a tight match at No. 4, falling 7-5, 6-4, while at No. 2,
Rachel Zgurich lost 6-4, 6-3.
Saint Vincent will be back in action on Tuesday, Oct. 3, traveling to PAC rival Washington & Jefferson for a 7 p.m. match under the lights.Â
