BETHLEHEM, Pa. (Sept. 30) – Another dazzling performance from veteran
Tim Patterson highlighted a strong showing by the Saint Vincent men's cross country team at the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University.
Patterson placed second in a field of 371 runners to lead Saint Vincent to a 10th-place finish in a strong 34-team field.
Patterson, who covered the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 39 seconds, was less than four seconds out of the top spot and was one of six Bearcat runners to place in the top third of the deep field.
Aiden Jackson was the Bearcats' number-two finisher, continuing his excellent junior campaign by placing 64th in 27 minutes, 18 seconds.
Each of Saint Vincent's next three runners finished within 12 seconds of one another, with sophomore
Brady Sundin posting a time of 27 minutes, 39 seconds, to place 84th; junior
John Syms finishing in 27 minutes, 44 seconds, to take 91st; and junior

Rochester Institute of Technology's Derek Koen won the individual title, finishing three seconds ahead of Patterson with a winning time of 25 minutes, 36 seconds. Patterson outdistanced the third-place runner, Will Salony of Trinity (Texas), by 53 seconds.
Trinity (Texas) topped the team standings in a loaded field that featured 13 teams who appeared in the most recent U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) regional rankings, with Marywood taking second and Swarthmore third.
The Bearcats will have two weeks off before making another trip east, when they will travel to New Jersey and the Rowan University Border Battle, on Saturday, Oct. 14.
