PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Jan. 19) – The Saint Vincent College men's swimming team earned first-place finishes in 13 of 14 races enroute to a 190-31 victory over Chatham University in a Friday night Presidents' Athletic Conference dual in Sigo Falk Natatorium.
The Bearcats (3-4, 3-1 PAC) opened the night by sweeping the top two spots in the 200 medley relay. The foursome of
Jacob Halter,
Jacob Bacasa,
Liam Randolph and
Robert Harrington earned the win, finishing in 1:48.94, less than two seconds ahead of the SVC quartet of
Anton Seifert,
Colin Spehar,
Hayden Klein and
Soma Burt (1:50.33).
In the first individual sprint of the night, Saint Vincent occupied the top two spots, with
Jacob Dzurica winning the 200 freestyle in 1:50.22, and
James Clark placing second in 2:09.96.
SVC earned the top three finishes in the 100 backstroke, with Harrington winning in 1:02.14, ahead of Halter (1:04.26) and
Aidan Gilson (1:15.68), before Spehar took first in the 100 breaststroke (1:08.06) and Bacasa runner-up (1:11.96).
Hayden Klein earned the Bearcats' fifth win of the evening, taking the 200 butterfly in 2:11.56, with Seifert taking third in 2:30.67.
Dzurica picked up his second individual victory of the meet in the 50 freestyle, finishing in 21.85 seconds, with Randolph taking second in 25.07 seconds and Burt third in 25.17.
Dzurica (49.85 seconds) and Randolph (53.38) would again finish 1-2 in the 100 freestyle, before SVC boasted each of the top three finishers in the 200 back, with Seifert winning in 2:23.05, followed by Clark in second place (2:31.80) and Gilson in third (2:41.41).
After Harrington claimed the vidtory in the 200 breaststroke in 2:28.76, Klein (5:32.17) and Burt (5:41.00) took the top two spots in the 500 frestyle.
Alex Leskovansky, who earlier placed second in the 1000 freestyle (11:32.11), claimed the victory in the 100 fly in 57.12 seconds, with Halter taking second (1:05.00) and Gilson third (1:14.07).
The Bearcats also boasted the first three to the wall in the 400 individual medley in Randolph (4:25.47), Harrington (4:44.20) and Bacasa (4:47.99), before the foursome of Spehar, Leskovansky, Klein and Dzurica closed out the night with a 29-second victory in the 400 freestyle relay, posting a winning time of 3:26.79.
The Bearcats will now have a quick turnaround, as they will return to PAC action on Saturday, Jan. 20, hosting Bethany College in the Resnik Pool beginning at 1 p.m.
