PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Jan. 19) – The Saint Vincent College women's swimming team won all 14 races in its 190-63 victory at Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Chatham University.
The Bearcats (5-2, 3-1 PAC) opened the Friday night meet by taking the first two spots in the 200 medley relay, with
Emma Martz, Val Clabaugh,
Lily Holsey and
Abby Leskovansky winning in 1:59.34, and
Rachel Hutchinson,
Teresa Grimm, Cecilia Hinkin and
Sarah Alexander placing second in 2:05.59.
Brook McDermott and
Julia Schultz would then finish first and third, respectively, in the 1000 free, with times of 11:50.10 and 13:55.26, before the Bearcats boasted the top three finishers in the 200 free, with Leskovansky winning in 2:07.21, Alexander taking second in 2:08.26 and Holsey placing third in 2:19.75.
In the 100 backstroke, Hickin earned the win in 1:11.36, while teammate
Elyssa Bognar took third in 1:12.17, and SVC would then sweep the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke, with Clabaugh winning in 1:14.98 and Grimm taking second in 1:15.39.
Hutchinson took the gold in the 200 butterfly with a winning time of 2:33.72, before SVC went 1-2-3 in the 50 free, as Martz placed first in 26.35 seconds,
Julia Schultz second in 29.25 seconds and
Emma Morgan third in 29.27.
Leskovansky picked up her second win of the night in the 100 freestyle, posting a time of 56.10 seconds, before Hutchinson placed first (2:28.52) and Bognar second (2:38.87) in the 200 backstroke.
With a time of 2:48.47, Holsey earned the win in the 200 breaststroke, while the 500 freestyle saw Alexander take first (5:38.24) and Schultz second (6:45.74).
Leskovansky's third individual win came in the 100 butterfly (1:04.91), while Grimm placed second (1:07.38) and Clabaugh third (1:10.16).
Saint Vincent also took the top three positions in the 400 individual medley, with Martz winning (4:57.15), Hutchinson taking second (5:22.63) and Holsey third (5:33.72).
The Bearcats would then close out the night in the same fashion in which they started, posting a 15-second win in the 400 freestyle relay, as the quartet of Alexander, Clabaugh and McDermott posting a winning time of 4:03.85.
Saint Vincent will now have a short turnaround before returning to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, when it hosts a PAC tri-match with Bethany College and Franciscan University in the Resnik Pool.
