Men's swimming wins third straight in convincing fashion

LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 20) – The Saint Vincent College men's swimming team ran its dual match winning streak to three with a commanding 202-14 victory over Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Bethany College in the Frank and Elizabeth Resnick Pool.
 
The Bearcats (4-4, 4-1 PAC) swept all 14 races on the afternoon.
 
The quartet of Jacob Dzurica, Liam Randolph, Colin Spehar, and Alex Leskovansky opened the afternoon by taking the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:40.15, before Jacob Bacasa placed first (17:53.96), Robert Harrington second (18:05.9) and James Clark third (19:59.63) in the 1650 freestyle.
 
Hayden Klein captured the 200 freestyle in 1:59.49, with teammate Soma Burt taking second in 2:04.71, before Dzurica and Anton Seifert finished 1-2 in the 100 backstroke with times of 54.96 seconds, and 1:02.51, respectively.
 
After Harrington (1:10.60) and Bacasa (1:13.29) took the top two spots in the 100 breaststroke, Randolph (2:03.09) picked up the victory in the 200 butterfly.
 
Leskovansky then earned his first individual win of the day in the 50 freestyle, posting a time of 23.29 seconds, just ahead of Spehar (24.08 seconds). 
 
Klein (54.06 seconds), Seifert (55.68) and Burt (55.80) earned the top three spots in the 100 freestyle, and then Dzurica (2:04.94), Harrington (2:15.78) and Halter (2:21.27) did the same in the 200 backstroke.
 
Spehar (2:35.14) edged Bacasa (2:35.51) in the 200 breaststroke, before Randolph won the 500 freestyle in 5:14.75. 
 
Leskovansky's second win of the afternoon came in the 100 butterfly, posting a time of 55.79 seconds, with Seifert placing second in 1:03.06, and the Spehar claimed a 13-second win in the 200 individual medley in 2:13.43.
 
SVC closed the afternoon by taking the top two spots in the 200 freestyle relay, with Randolph, Harrington, Leskovansky and Dzurica winning in 1:30.42, and Klein, Burt, Bacasa and Aidan Gilson placing second in 1:44.56.
 
The Bearcats will next be in action on Saturday, Jan. 27, closing out their 2023-24 home schedule with a 1 p.m. Senior Day matchup against Westminster College in the Resnick Pool.
