LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 13)- The Saint Vincent College women's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over Carlow on senior day on Sunday afternoon.

The Bearcats (13-3, 5-3 PAC) won two of the three doubles matches to win the lone doubles point, before taking five of the six singles matches from Carlow (4-6, 2-3 AMCC) to win the non-conference match 6-1.

Prior to the match, the Bearcats honored their five seniors.

Abby Donnelly,
Lydia Lieb,
Julia Runk, and
Isabella Lane were all honored for their achievements with the Bearcats by Head Coach
Brian Niemiec before the match.

In doubles play, Saint Vincent took the first two doubles matches in second and third doubles to quickly secure the doubles point.

First the senior duo of Donnelly and Lieb won at second doubles by a score of 6-3. Another senior duo in Runk and Hooper clinched the doubles point for SVC with a 6-2 win in third doubles to put the Bearcats up 1-0 in the match.

Emily Pierce along with Lane fell in a tight 4-6 match in the top doubles spot as the match headed to singles play,

Saint Vincent continued their momentum into singles play as they won the first six matches of singles play to clinch the match.

First, Hooper won her second match of the day on her senior day with a 6-0, 6-0 win in number four singles. Donnelly followed with her second win as well, this one a 6-0, 6-1 win in number five singles.

Lieb clinched the match for the Bearcats on her senior day with a 6-0, 6-1 win for SVC in number three singles to put Saint Vincent up 4-0 in the match.

Lane added to the Bearcats point total on the day as well with a 6-2, 6-2 victory in the second singles spot to increase the SVC lead to 5-0.

The Bearcats lead increased to 6-0 after Runk won in six singles by a score of 7-5, 6-1. Carlow's lone win came in the top singles spot to conclude the 6-1 victory for SVC.

Saint Vincent has earned the three-seed in the PAC playoffs and will host sixth-seeded Franciscan in the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday, October 15 at the SVC courts. The time of the match on Tuesday is to be determined.
