LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 15)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team fell by a 1-0 result to Washington and Jefferson at home on a cold Tuesday night in Latrobe.
The Bearcats (2-7-6, 1-4-1 PAC) allowed the lone goal to the Presidents (5-8-1, 2-3-1 PAC) in the first half, before playing a scoreless second half.
Jack Billick and
Mattia Speretta both led the Bearcats with two shots on goal in the loss.
Oziel Bonola-Soriano added a shot on goal for the Bearcats as well.
Kameron Rock took the loss in net, making seven saves, while allowing the lone goal.
Bruno Hurtado recorded two shots in the loss for SVC to add to their total.
After an evenly played opening 30 minutes that the Bearcats had a couple opportunities to score, W&J scored in the 31st minute to take the lead. Zach Casey scored off a corner kick for the Presidents to give them a 1-0 lead.
The final 14 minutes of the half went scoreless as the 1-0 W&J lead held at the half. Shots in the half were 10-8 in favor of W&J. The Bearcats recorded just one corner kick in the half, compared to six by W&J.
Fouls were 4-2 in the half in favor of Saint Vincent.Â
It was a scoreless second half as both teams controlled the ball for certain portions of the half in their respective offensive ends, but neither team was able to find the back of the net as the Presidents 1-0 advantage held.
Shots over the course of the game were 15-11 including 8-5 on shots on goal, both in favor of W&J. Corner kicks were 7-3 in favor of W&J as well. The Bearcats committed nine fouls, while the Presidents committed seven over the course of the game.
