ALLIANCE, Ohio (Oct. 18) – The Saint Vincent men's swimming team opened the 2024-25 season with a 160-99 road loss to a strong University of Mount Union squad.
In the first event of the season, the 400 medley relay, the SVC foursome of junior
Jacob Dzurica, sophomore
Liam Randolph, junior
Hayden Klein and senior
Robert Harrington placed second in 3:40.98.
Senior
James Clark led the Bearcats in the 1,000 freestyle, placing fourth in 11:34.82, before freshman Gabriel Yant earned a fourth-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 2:00.87.
Dzurica earned the Bearcats' first event win of the evening, racing to a half-second victory in the 50 backstroke in 24.81 seconds.
Randolph followed up Dzurica's victory by winning the 50 breaststroke in 27.50 seconds, good for a half-second margin.
After Klein placed fourth in the 100 fly in 57.75 seconds, Dzurica earned his second win of the evening, racing to a time of 21.89 seconds in the 50 freestyle.
Harrington led the way for SVC in the 100 freestyle, placing third in 51.78 seconds, before junior
Anton Seifert earned a fourth-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.47.
Randolph then became a two-time winner on the evening, placing first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:01.43, winning by a 1.5-second margin.
Yant followed by placing fourth in the 500 freestyle in 5:29.95 and junior
Alex Leskovansky took fourth in the 50 butterfly in 25.63 seconds, before SVC went one-two in the 200 individual medley, with freshman
Giovanni Guido winning in 2:10.17, and classmate
Sam McCall taking second in 2:24.07.
The Bearcats closed out the evening with a first-place finish in the 400 freestyle relay, with Dzurica, Randolph, Leskovansky and Harrington teaming up to finish in 3:21.09.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Friday, Oct. 25, hosting its 2024-25 home-opener against Penn State-Altoona beginning at 6 p.m.
