ALLIANCE, Ohio (Oct. 18) – The Saint Vincent women's swimming team opened the 2024-25 season at Mount Union University.
Junior
Emma Martz had a hand in four of the Saint Vincent's six event wins, but the Bearcats were defeated, 153-109.

Abby Leskovansky teaming up to win the 400 medley relay in 4:16.01.
The Bearcats would then own two of the top four finishers in the 1,000 freestyle, with senior
Sarah Alexander finishing second in 11:50.02, and sophomore
Brook McDermott fourth in 12:20.22.
Junior
Rachel Hutchinson placed second in the 200 freestyle in 2:06.07, just one one-hundredth of a second outside of the top spot, before Zembiec took second in the 50 backstroke in 30.98 seconds.
After Miller and
Valerie Clabaugh placed second and third in the 50 breaststroke, in times of 34.16 and 34.50 seconds, respectively, Martz earned her first individual victory of the evening, winning the 100 butterfly in 1:03.08, more than 1.5 seconds ahead of the runner-up.
In the 50 freestyle, Leskovansky finished runner-up in 25.28 seconds, while Zembiec picked up her first collegiate individual win with a time of 1:05.56 in the 100 backstroke.
Miller followed by placing second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.64, before Hutchinson (5:39.83) and McDermott (5:54.07) again went two-three in the 500 freestyle.
Martz would then win back-to-back events, placing first in the 50 butterfly in 28.08 seconds and then the 200 individual medley in 2:24.81. SVC went one-two in the 200 IM, as Martz was followed by Miller's second-place time of 2:27.73.
The Bearcats closed the event with the 400 freestyle relay foursome of Zembiec, Alexander, sophomore Cecelia Hickin and Leskovansky taking second in 3:56.19.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Friday, Oct. 25, hosting its 2024-25 home-opener against Penn State-Altoona beginning at 6 p.m.
