The Saint Vincent women's bowling team finished with its best game of the season in the last game of the day in to jump from fourth to second among 15 teams in an Ohio Bowling Conference tournament in Columbus, Ohio.
The day started with four Traditional games, and the Bearcats got a strong start from a pair of freshman and senior, averaging 183.2. Freshman
Mareana Pilyih led the way with a 217 game, while senior
Sabine Strickland had a 204, and freshman
Kaylie Kurland added a 191.
SVC did not fare well in the second game of the day, shooting just 828 (165.6 average) to fall to eighth place overall. Kurland (199) and Pilyih (195) had the top scores.
The team bounced back with its best game of the season, totaling 987 in game three, an average of 197.4. Kurland's 225 game led the scoresheet, while Pilyih had a 215 and sophomore
Skyy Nicholls added a 213.
Nicholls (235) and Kurland (224) also threw well in game four, leading the team to a 974 total, an average of 194.8. Pilyih's 195 game was third-best in the final Traditional game of the day.
Despite two strong games, the Bearcats only moved up to fourth place overall, behind Wright State, Muskingum and Robert Morris University.
The final 8 games of the afternoon were Baker team games, broken into two four-game blocks. In the first block, SVC managed only a 146, but stormed back with games of 199 and 213, before ending with a 163 for a four-game average of 180.
Still in fourth place and trailing RMU by 67 pins, the Bearcats had plenty of work to do in the final four game block, and opened with a 192. The next two games were 168 and 222, leaving SVC trailing RMU by 55 pins with just one game to go. Freshman

Abby Justice, Strickland and Nicholls threw strikes in the first 5 frames. Street and Stuber extended the streak to 7, followed by a spare from Justice, and another strike from Strickland. Nicholls ended the game with two strikes and a 9 count, giving SVC a 277 game, the second highest Baker game in school history. The game lifted the Bearcats ahead of both Robert Morris and Muskingum for a strong second place finish.
As a team, the Bearcats averaged over 188 for the day, losing only to NCAA Division 1 program Wright State University.
Kurland's four-game total of 839 (209.7 average) and Mara Pilyih's 822 (205.5) placed them on the All-Tournament team, as they finished fourth and fifth overall, respectively, among the field of 87.
Overall for the day, Pilyih led the team with a 210.5 average, followed by Kurland (205.8) and Nicholls (194.0).
The Saint Vincent women's JV team captured first place among six competing schools, averaging 158 for the afternoon.
Lexi Pilyih was named to the All-Tournament Team, averaging 169. Overall for the day, including Bakers,

SVC will have next weekend off before returning to action the weekend of November 2-3, traveling to Buffalo for the Niagara University Classic.
