LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 2)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball earned a 3-0 sweep at home against Mount Aloysius on Wednesday night.

The Bearcats (6-9) defeated the Mounties (7-7) by set scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-19.

Dakota Hershberger, fresh off of her PAC Newcomer of the Week honor, recorded 14 kills, while also picking up three blocks as well.

Kaelyn Staples-Klasnic had a big game for the Bearcats in their three-set sweep as well, recording 13 kills.
Meegan Williams had an impressive night with a double-double, recording 11 kills an 21 digs, while also totaling three service aces.

Lauren Fox led Saint Vincent with four blocks, while
Vivian Poach totaled a game-high 39 assists for the Bearcats as well. Poach totaled 12 digs for Saint Vincent too, while
Stacie Ramos was tied for the team-lead in digs with Williams with 21.

It was all Bearcats from the start in the opening set. SVC opened the first set with four straight points after kills from Staples-Klasnic and Poach to give the Bearcats a quick 4-0 lead.

The Mounties came back to cut the Bearcats lead to one at 14-13, before Saint Vincent pulled away again in the set. SVC once again scored the next four points on another kill by Staples-Klasnic and ace from Poach, mixed between two Mount Aloysius errors to give the Bearcats an 18-13 advantage.

After the Mounties scored a point to cut it to 18-14, the Bearcats would go on to score seven of the next eight points, including the final two points to win the opening set (25-15). Back-to-back kills from Williams ended the set giving Saint Vincent a 1-0 lead.

The teams traded the first several points back-and-forth in the second set. The set was tied 11-11 and still tied at 16-16. Saint Vincent scored two of the next three points to take an 18-17 lead. The Bearcats once again ended the set on a very strong note, scoring seven of the next eight points to win the second set (25-18). SVC scored the final three points of the set, one of which was a kill from Staples-Klasnic to increase the Bearcats lead to 2-0 in the match.

Once again, the teams traded points to open up the third set. The set was tied 10-10, before the Bearcats scored six of the next seven points to take a 16-11 advantage. The Mounties attempted a late comeback, cutting the lead t 21-19, but Saint Vincent once again pulled away late.

The Bearcats scored the final four points on four consecutive kills to win the set (25-19). Staples-Klasnic and Hershberger each recorded two kills in the final four points to clinch the 3-0 sweep for Saint Vincent.

SVC recorded an impressive .288 hitting percentage over the course of the victory. The Bearcats led the Mounties in every major statistical category. Saint Vincent recorded 50 kills to Mount Aloysius' 27 and eight blocks to the Mounties two.

SVC led the Mounties in assists by a 47-25 margin as well as an 86-73 advantage in digs.

Saint Vincent will now begin its PAC slate of contests as they travel to Bethany for a matchup against the Bison on Saturday, October 5. The match at Bethany is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
