LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 22)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by Grove City on senior night Tuesday night.

The Bearcats (2-9-6, 1-6-1 PAC) and Wolverines (9-3-2, 6-2 PAC) played to a scoreless tie in the first half, before Grove City scored two goals on 22 shots in the second half to defeat Saint Vincent 2-0.

Grove City outshot SVC 31-5 over the course of the game, including 10-0 on shots on goal.
Grant Archuleta made a strong eight saves in goal, while allowing the two goals in the loss.

Five different Bearcats recorded a shot in the loss.
Will LaBruno,
Cameron Mulvanny,
Jalani Campbell,
Bruno Hurtado, and
Antonio Mendes all recorded shots for SVC.

It was a fairly evenly played first half. Grove City controlled the ball in their offensive end for the first portion of the first half, but the Bearcats controlled in their offensive end for the second portion of the half as the teams played to a scoreless tie.

The Wolverines were outshot 9-3 on shots in the half, while corner kicks were 4-1 in favor of Grove City in the half as well. Archuleta made five of his eight saves in the opening half. The Bearcats committed just two fouls in the half, while Grove City committed six.

It was a similar start for the first 15 minutes of the second half, before Grove City took full control. The Wolverines scored two goals in a span of two minutes as Aidan Eck scored the first one in the 61
st minute and Connor Hudson followed with a goal in the 63
rd minute on an assist by Noah Gray to give Grove City a 2-0 lead.

The Wolverines limited the Bearcats chances the rest of the half as well as Saint Vincent was handed the 2-0 defeat. Grove City outshot the Bearcats 22-2 in the second half. The Wolverines also had four corner kicks in the half, leading that category 8-1 over the course of the match.

Fouls over the course of the match were 12-8 with Grove City committing the 12 and Saint Vincent eight.
Erwin Suarez and
Eduardo Richa were the two Bearcat seniors honored on senior night prior to the match.

The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, October 26 with a PAC matchup on the road at Chatham. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in Pittsburgh on Saturday.
