WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Oct. 3) – The Saint Vincent men's tennis team improved to 3-0 after picking up a 6-1 victory at Waynesburg University.
The Bearcats won all three doubles matches to pick up the first point, before winning five of the afternoon's six singles matches.
In doubles play, Saint Vincent's No. 1 tandem of
Brady Johnson and
Matthew Sadusky and its No. 3 squad of
J.T. Gockel and
Brian Lee each won by 6-2 scores, while the No. 2 pairing of
Jack Citrone and
Braden Yokopenic cruised to a 6-0 victory.
At the No. 1 singles spot, Sadusky picked up a quick 6-0, 6-0 victory, while Lee earned a 6-0, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles and
August Lawrence won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles.
Johnson picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles, while
Deven Summers was victorious in the No. 5 spot by a 6-1, 6-0 score.
The Bearcats will now have a week-long respite before returning to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, with a 12:30 p.m. home matchup against Penn State-Altoona on the SVC Courts.
