MEADVILLE, Pa. (Nov. 16)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team fell in the PAC Championship match to Allegheny 3-0 on Saturday night.
The Bearcats fell in straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-21.
Meegan Williams led the way for the Bearcats with nine kills.
Dakota Hershberger recorded a team-high 19 digs, while
Vivian Poach had 20 assists in the championship match.
Stacie Ramos also had 17 digs, while Poach added 12 of her own.
It was all Gators in the opening set as they quickly opened up to an 8-3 lead over Saint Vincent. The Gators further increased that lead to a 23-13 lead by the later portions of the set. Allegheny went on to score two of the final three points in the set as SVC found themselves trailing 1-0.
In the second set, it was much of the same story in the early portions. The Gators opened up to a 9-4 lead and then increased that lead to 19-10 by the late portions of the set. SVC stormed back, scoring the next six points and ten of the next 11 points to cut the Gators lead to 21-20. The Bearcats later tied the set at 22-22, before Allegheny won the set scoring the final three points in a row to take a 2-0 lead.
The third set went back-and-forth as the Bearcats looked to stay alive in the championship match. The set was tied 9-9, before Allegheny went on a 7-1 run to take a 16-10 lead and then never looked back. The Bearcats cut the lead to just one at 21-20, before Allegheny closed out the championship match scoring four of the final five points to win the PAC Championship by a 3-0 score.
Lauren Fox along with Poach were named to the All-PAC Tournament team.
The Bearcats conclude their impressive season with a 15-12 overall record and 8-2 record in PAC play. Saint Vincent was playing in their first ever PAC Championship match on Saturday night. Allegheny has now earned the PAC's bid into the NCAA National Tournament, which is set to begin later next week.
