LATROBE, Pa. (Nov. 2) – The Saint Vincent men's swimming team hosted non-conference foe York College in a Saturday afternoon non-conference dual in the Resnik Pool, with the visitors picking up a 171-90 victory.
The afternoon started with the Bearcats' 200 medley relay foursome of
Liam Randolph,
Giovanni Guido,
Hayden Klein and
Gabe Yant combining for a second-place finish in 1:44.70.
In the 1,000 freestyle,
Robert Harrington placed third (10:56.37) and
James Clark fourth (11:32.45), before
Christopher Shilaos paced the Bearcats in the 100 backstroke in 59.82 seconds to take second.
Randolph then earned his first of two individual wins of the day, picking up a 6-second victory in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 59.25 seconds. Guido finished third in the event in 1:06.77, and
Sam McCall fourth in 1:10.28.
Hayden Klein topped the Bearcats in the 200 butterfly, placing second in 2:11.61, before Yant turned in a time of 24.04 seconds to take third in the 50 freestyle.
After Shilaos turned in another strong backstroke effort with a third-place time of 2:15.17 in the 200, Randolph completed the breaststroke sweep by winning the 200 in 2:15.49, with Guido taking third in 2:26.40.
Harrington earned a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly in 56.15 seconds, before Guido picked up his first collegiate victory with a time of 2:06.96 in the 200 individual medley.
The afternoon ended with the SVC quartet of Harrington, Randolph, Leskovansky and Klein turning in a time of 1:31.91 in the 200 freestyle relay to place second.
Saint Vincent will now prep for its first PAC meet of the year, as it hosts defending conference champ Grove City at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8, in the Resnik Pool.
