NEW CASTLE, Pa. (Nov. 2) – Freshman
Grace Neubert was named the 2024 Presidents' Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Newcomer of the Year, as she led the Bearcats to a third-place finish at the 2024 PAC Cross Country Championship at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds.
Neubert was the top freshman finisher in the 118-runner field, continuing her stellar rookie campaign by placing third overall with a 6-kilometer time of 22:36. She earned first team All-PAC accolades with her third-place finish and became the second runner in program history to be named PAC Newcomer of the Year, joining teammate
Kristen Prince, who was honored in 2022.
Neubert was one of three Bearcats to place in the top 14, while all five of SVC's scorers placed in the top 28.
As a team, Saint Vincent amassed 75 points to place third in the 11-team field, behind only team champion Allegheny, which totaled 45 points, and runner-up Grove City (64 points).
Junior
Miranda Cincotta was the Bearcats No. 2 runner on the day, posting a time of 23:24 to place 10th overall, while Prince placed 14th with a time of 23:41. Both runners were named second team All-PAC.
Junior
Cassy Lanza landed All-PAC honorable mention honors by placing 21st in 23:56, while classmate
Lily Murphy placed 28th in 24:39.
In her PAC Championship debut, freshman
Lauren Schemmel placed 37th in 25:24, while junior
Grace Scoville rounded out the SVC top-seven with a time of 25:46 to take 43rd.
Senior
Lauren Brennan was an eighth SVC runner to place in the top-50, with her time of 25:47 good for 44th place. Freshman
Isabella Snyder placed 54th in 26:30, and sophomore
Mary McConville turned in a time of 30:17 to place 97th.
Behind Allegheny, Grove City and SVC in the team standings, Franciscan placed fourth with 84 points, Washington & Jefferson fifth (124), Geneva sixth (139), Waynesburg seventh (210), Chatham eighth (249), Thiel ninth (274), Westminster 10th (283) and Bethany 11th (325).
The Bearcats will now prep for the 2024 NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship, scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, at Lock Haven University.
