LATROBE, Pa. (Nov. 9)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 sweep against Waynesburg in the Bearcats PAC regular season finale.
The Bearcats (14-11, 8-2 PAC) won in straight sets by scores of 25-18, 25-18, and 25-16 to breeze past the Yellow Jackets (7-16, 3-7 PAC).
Meegan Williams ended the regular season with another double-double. She recorded 12 kills and 17 digs in the win for SVC.
Kaelyn Staples-Klasnic had a solid performance on her senior night as well with ten kills and eight digs.
Fellow seniors,
Stacie Ramos and
Vivian Poach had big nights as well as Ramos totaled 26 digs and Poach recorded 29 assists. Poach also totaled 12 digs and
Dakota Hershberger was in double digits with 17 of her own.
Jessica Hughes hit an impressive .385 with six kills for the Bearcats.
It was back-and-forth early on in the first set as the Bearcats held a slight 10-9 advantage. Saint Vincent went on 4-0 run with kills from
Lauren Fox and Williams mixed between two attack errors from Waynesburg to put SVC up 14-9.
The Bearcats continued on the attack, pushing their lead to 19-12, before closing out the set scoring two of the final three points on kills by Hughes and Poach to win the set (25-18), taking a 1-0 lead in the match.
Waynesburg took the first advantage of the second set as they took a 6-1 lead. Saint Vincent stormed back to tie the match up at 12-12, before taking a lead in the set at 14-12 after a kill and service ace from Williams.
After a Waynesburg point cut the SVC lead to 14-13, Saint Vincent scored the next seven points, four of which came on kills from Staples-Klasnic to put the Bearcats up 21-13. The Yellow Jackets cut the Saint Vincent lead to five at 22-17, before the Bearcats scored three of the final four points on kills by Hershberger and Williams and a Waynesburg service error to win the set for SVC (25-18), taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
It was all Saint Vincent in the third set as the Bearcats scored four of the first five points in the set. The Bearcats lead increased to 8-5, before Saint Vincent went on another 7-0 run, three of which came on kills from Williams and Hershberger to put Saint Vincent up 15-5.
The teams traded the next few points as the SVC lead was still ten at 23-13. Waynesburg scored the next three points, before Williams recorded back-to-back kills to win the set (25-16) and the match 3-0.
The Bearcats led in kills 39-29, service aces 9-2, and blocks 6-4. They also led in assists 35-27 and digs 91-79 over the course of the match. SVC hit .142, while Waynesburg totaled a hitting percentage of .074.

Rachel Wiesen prior to the match.Â
Saint Vincent has clinched the number two seed in the PAC Tournament and first round bye, qualifying for the semifinals next Thursday, November 14. The match will take place in the Robert S. Carey Center next Thursday night at 7 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.Â
