The SVC women's bowling team, prepping for this weekend's AMCC Conference Championship, split a pair of games with Pitt-Greensburg in a match held in Greensburg.
Hosted by UPG at the new 814 Lanes & Games facility, the match took place on string pins, the second time this season SVC has bowled on the new technology in the sport.
In a traditional game, Saint Vincent led from start to finish, defeating the Bobcats by a score of 880-720.Â
Abby Justice led the way with a 205, while
Sabine Strickland added a 181, and
Skyy Nicholls finished with a 178.
In a 5-game Baker set, SVC took the early lead with a 192-147 win in game one, but UPG outscored Saint Vincent in each of the next four games to earn the victory, 870-815. Strickland had the top Baker score, averaging 18.22, a game equivalent of 182.2. She was followed by Nicholls (170.0) and
Lexi Pilyih (166.7).
Saint Vincent enters the conference championship as the #1 seed, and has a bye in Friday's first round. The team will compete at 2:30 on Friday afternoon against the winner of the #4/#5 match, Penn-State-Behrend or New Jersey City University. The tournament will take place Friday through Sunday at Pines Plaza Lanes in Pittsburgh.
