LATROBE, Pa. (March 27) -- The Saint Vincent College men's tennis team was defeated, 9-0, by defending Presidents' Athletic Conference champ Allegheny on the SVC Courts.
The defeat drops the Bearcats' record to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the PAC, while the Gators move to 7-5 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
In doubles play, all three Bearcat tandems battled, but ultimately fell. Both the No. 1 pairing of
Matthew Sadusky and
Brady Johnson and the No. 2 tandem of
Braden Yokopenic and
Josh Havrilla were defeated by 8-3 scores, before the third pairing of
August Lawrence and
Kyle Murray lost, 8-4.
Allegheny would then go on to sweep all six singles matches, with the Bearcats' closest defeats coming at No. 2, with
Brian Lee falling 6-1, 6-4, and at No. 4, with Johnson dropping a 6-1, 6-4 decision.
Saint Vincent will now have a weeklong layoff over the Easter holiday before returning to action on Wednesday, April 3, with a 4 p.m. home match against PAC rival Grove City.
