Just over two minutes into the second half, Haid completed the hat trick and tied the game at 9-9, before the Gators embarked on what proved to be the game-deciding run, scoring four times in a 3-minute span to open up a 13-9 lead. Rogers' unassisted tally with 1:28 left in the quarter halted the Gator surge and pulled the Bearcats to within three as the game headed into its final 15 minutes.
In a tightly played fourth quarter, Hawkins and Billet scored three minutes apart to close the gap to 14-12, before the Gators added an insurance tally with exactly seven minutes to go. The Bearcats held a sizeable advantage in possession time down the stretch, outshooting the Gators 7-2 over the final five minutes, but were unable to cut into the three-goal deficit.
