LATROBE, Pa. (April 18) – The Saint Vincent College men's tennis team saw its six-match winning streak snapped after falling by an 8-1 score to visiting Grove City on a Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup on the SVC Courts.
The loss drops the Bearcats to 14-5 overall and 5-2 in the PAC, while Grove City improves to 11-6 overall and 6-1 in PAC competition.
The Bearcats' lone victory of the day came at No. 1 singles, with the pairing of
Brady Johnson and
Matthew Sadusky posting an 8-6 win.
At No. 2 singles, the SVC tandem of
Braden Yokopenic and
Josh Havrilla battled but was edged, 8-6.
Grove City swept all six singles matches in straight sets, with the closest decision coming in the No. 5 spot, as
Jack Citrone fell 7-6 (4), 6-3.
SVC will now have a quick turnaround, as they are slated to wrap up the regular season with a Senior Day matchup against Geneva College on Friday, April 19, at 4 p.m. on the SVC Courts.
