LATROBE, Pa. (Apr. 18)- The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team was defeated by Bethany, 15-11 in a PAC matchup under the lights at UPMC Field on Thursday.
 
The Bearcats (2-9, 1-5 PAC) trailed the Bison (4-9, 2-4 PAC) 9-5 at the half, before playing to a 6-6 tie in the second half.
 
Madison Weber led the way across the board for the Bearcats. Weber had a career night, scoring four goals and dishing out one assist, while also scooping up seven groundballs and forcing five turnovers as well.
 
Carolina Walters had a solid night as well, scoring four goals and dishing out one assist, while also scooping up four groundballs. 
Gabby Salandro added two goals and a helper as well, while 
Gianna Murray scored for Saint Vincent as well. Salandro also picked up five ground balls to add to SVC's total.
 
Brianna Mack picked up two GB's and caused two turnovers, while 
Kloe Templeton scooped up two groundballs herself.
 
Kyra Lipetzky took the loss in net for the Bearcats, making nine saves.
 
Bethany scored the opening goal of the game a minute and a half in, before Walters tied it up with a man up at 1-1. The tie didn't last long as Bethany went on to score the next four goals over the next ten minutes of play to take a 5-1 lead.
 
Saint Vincent added two goals in the remaining 38 seconds of the opening quarter, cutting the Bethany lead to two at 5-3. Murray scored on an assist from Walters and Walters followed with a goal of her own with five seconds remaining in the quarter.
 
The Bison outscored Saint Vincent 4-2 in the second quarter. Salandro scored the first one on an assist from Weber and Walters scored as time expired to cut the Bethany lead to 9-5 at the half.
 
After a Bethany goal to open up the second half, Weber scored two in a row for Saint Vincent, one of which came on an assist from Salandro, cutting the lead to 10-7. The Bison added another goal before the quarter's end, but Weber scored as well as Saint Vincent trailed 11-8 heading into the final 15.
 
Weber scored the first goal of the fourth quarter too, this one coming on the man down as the Bearcats cut the lead to just two at 11-9. Bethany scored four of the next six goals, however, to seal the deal.
Salandro and Walters each scored for the Bearcats in the final quarter, but the Bearcats fell 15-11.
 
Saint Vincent outshot the Bison by a 32-30 margin. The Bearcats were 18-23 on clears and limited Bethany to 23-31 on clears. SVC also forced 25 Bison turnovers, turning the ball over 23 times themselves.
 
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, April 20, traveling to Thiel to take on the Tomcats in a PAC matchup. Opening face off is scheduled for 12 noon on Saturday in Greenville.
