Baseball Swept by Allegheny

LATROBE, Pa. (Apr. 28)- The Saint Vincent baseball team was swept in a PAC doubleheader at the hands of Allegheny on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Bearcats (10-25, 7-11 PAC) fell 15-5 in game one, before dropping game two to the Gators (22-10, 13-5 PAC) by a score of 16-5.
 
GAME ONE- Allegheny 15, Saint Vincent 5 (7 innings)
 
It was a rough day for the Bearcats as the score was tied 3-3 after three full innings, but the Gators outscored Saint Vincent 12-2 the rest of the way, earning the run-rule win over SVC.
 
Saint Vincent tallied just six hits in the loss. Vincent Amatucci went 1-3 with two RBIs and a run scored as well. Billy Perroz added a hit and RBI, as did Alex Hess.
 
Mario Disso went 1-3 with one run scored and so did Dylan Schmude. J'Shawn Taylor went 1-3 with two runs scored and a walk as well.
 
Jeremy Kreuzwieser took the loss on the mound, pitching one plus inning, giving up three runs (one earned) on two hits, while also walking two batters.
 
The Bearcats bullpen was tagged for ten runs on 12 hits for the Gators.
 
Allegheny scored their 15 runs on 12 hits. Saint Vincent on the other hand scored five runs on six hits, while committing seven errors on defense.
 
GAME TWO- Allegheny 16, Saint Vincent 5 (7 innings)
 
The Gators controlled from the start as well in game two, quickly going up 10-0 after three full innings of play. Saint Vincent scored two in the fourth, but the Gators scored six more runs between the fifth and sixth innings.
 
The Bearcats scored three in the seventh, but it wasn't enough to keep the game going as the Gators won by run rule for the second consecutive game.
 
Once again, Saint Vincent was limited offensively, tallying just four hits in the contest. Austin Tirpak and Schmude each had a hit and RBI for the Bearcats in the loss.
 
Nate Davis took the loss on the mound, pitching just a third of an inning, giving up four runs on just one hit, while he also walked three batters as well.
 
Jacob Hess, Evan Wiewiora and Jacob Auld pitched scoreless innings in relief for SVC.
 
The Bearcats scored their five runs on just the four hits, while also committing an error as well. Allegheny scored their 16 runs on 15 hits, also committing one error.
 
The Bearcats will conclude the season with a home doubleheader against Thiel on Saturday, May 4, with senior day festivities taking place prior to the game. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Bearcat Ballfield.
