BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (Apr. 3)- The Saint Vincent men's volleyball team completed a 3-2 win against Geneva in the Bearcats regular season finale.

With the win, Saint Vincent (18-7, 9-0 AMCC) completes the perfect regular season in AMCC play.

Geneva (15-15, 4-4 AMCC) won the first set, 26-24 and the third set, 25-22. The Bearcats won the second set, 25-22, the fourth set 25-20, and the fifth set, 15-12 to win the set.

Zebadiah Wyant led the way for Saint Vincent with 17 kills.
Matthew Minkin recorded 15 kills for the Bearcats and
Shawn McSwiggen added 14 kills.
Zach Wyant recorded a team-high 45 assists, while
Matthew Klasnic added 13 digs.

Zachary Mumpower had a game-high six blocks and McSwiggen and Minkin added 16 and 13 digs respectively.

In the first set, the teams traded points for the majority of the set as they found themselves tied at 15-15 and then 23-23. After a Saint Vincent point, Geneva scored three in a row to win the set (26-24), taking a 1-0 lead in the match.

It was similar in the second set as well. The teams traded back-and-forth to a 13-13 tie and remained tied at 17-17 and then 21-21. The Bearcats scored four of the final five points to win the set. The four points came on three errors by the GT's and an ace from Mumpower as the Bearcats won the second set (25-22), tying the match up at 1-1.

It was all Geneva in the third set. The GT's opened up to a 5-1 lead and increased their lead to 11-4. The Bearcats climbed back into it, cutting the Geneva lead to just two at 23-21 after two Golden Tornado attack errors. Geneva went on to score two of the final three to win the third set (25-22), as the Bearcats trailed 2-1.

Saint Vincent scored the first three points of the third set, two of which came on attack errors by the GT's and one coming on a kill from Minkin to take a 3-0 lead.

Geneva cut the lead to 8-6, but the Bearcats went on a 6-2 run to take a 14-8 lead. The GT's once again went on a little run, this one an 8-3 run to cut the Bearcats lead to 17-16. The teams traded back-and-forth over the next few points as SVC led by two at 21-19.

SVC went on to score four of the final five points, two of which came on kills from Zeb Wyant and one coming on a McSwiggen kill to win the fourth set (25-20), tying the match at 2-2.

Just as the majority of the match went, it was back-and-forth in the fifth set. The teams found themselves tied at 10-10. Saint Vincent scored four of the next five points, two of which came on McSwiggen kills as the Bearcats led 14-11 with match point.

After a Geneva point, Minkin ended the match with a kill, winning the fifth set (15-12), clinching the perfect season in the AMCC for the Bearcats.

Saint Vincent will now enjoy the next week and a half off, before hosting the AMCC Championship Tournament on April 12 and 13. The Bearcats will be the top-seed in the tournament and have a first round bye in next week's tournament.
