NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (April 7) – The Saint Vincent men's tennis team picked up its second road win in as many days with an 8-1 triumph over Westminster College.
The victory moves the Bearcats to 10-4 overall and 3-1 against Presidents' Athletic Conference foes.
After winning two of three doubles matches to begin the day, the Bearcats swept through all six singles matches, winning each by straight sets.
In doubles play, the No. 1 tandem of
Matthew Sadusky and
Brady Johnson picked up SVC's first win of the day with an 8-2 decision, before
Braden Yokopenic and
Josh Havrilla collaborated for an 8-3 victory at No. 2 singles.
Singles play began by
Brian Lee winning by forfeit in the No. 2 spot, before
Jack Citrone earned a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 5.
Sadusky then earned his second victory of the afternoon, and clinched the match win for the Bearcats, with a 6-1, 6-3 triumph at No. 3.
Braden Yokopenic grinded out a 7-5, 6-3 win in the No. 1 position, while
Brady Johnson was victorious, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 4, and Havrilla won at No. 6 by a 6-2, 7-5 score.
Winners of four of their past five matches, the Bearcats will return to action on Thursday, April 11, with a 4 p.m. PAC bout at Waynesburg University.
