LATROBE, Pa. (July 8) -- Saint Vincent College has announced the hiring of Omar Ward as head strength and conditioning coach.
Ward joins the Saint Vincent staff after working for two years as a personal trainer for Innate Fitness in Latrobe. In this role, Ward planned and supervised both one-on-one strength and conditioning sessions for Innate membership, while also leading group training sessions.
Ward is no stranger to Saint Vincent athletics, as in his role with Innate, he also oversaw the strength and conditioning programs for Bearcat men's lacrosse, men's soccer, women's volleyball and men's and women's swimming during the 2023-24 academic year.
He graduated from Seton Hill University with a bachelor's degree in exercise science, with a focus on health/fitness.
As an undergraduate, Ward was a standout baseball student-athlete. He spent two seasons at Division I Canisius College, where he served on the leadership council and was a part of the Griffins' 2018 squad that won the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference championship and advanced to the NCAA Regionals.
After transferring to Seton Hill, Ward helped the Griffins reach the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regionals in both 2021 and 2022, with the 2021 squad winning the regional title and advancing to the Division II World Series.
Ward is a native of Derry, Pennsylvania, and graduate of The Kiski School.
