NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Sept. 21)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team was defeated in both matches of their doubleheader on Saturday against Wooster and Westminster.

The Bearcats were defeated 3-0 in both matches, first against Wooster and then against Westminster in their final match of the day.

GAME 1- Wooster 3, Saint Vincent 0

The Bearcats fell by set scores of 20-25, 20-25, and 23-25 in the loss.

Jessica Hughes,
Vivian Poach, and
Dakota Hershberger all recorded seven kills to lead the Bearcats. Poach also added a team-high 16 assists for SVC as well.

Madie Eagler also added 13 assists, while
Stacie Ramos totaled a team-best 14 digs for Saint Vincent.
Aubrey Siwula also recorded double digit digs with ten to add to Saint Vincent's total.

Wooster controlled the majority of the opening set in the early portions as they opened up to a 6-3 lead. Saint Vincent stormed back with a 9-3 run to tie it at 12-12, but Wooster answered.

The Fighting Scots took a 15-12 lead and never lost the lead in the set again as they won the opening set (20-25) and Saint Vincent trailed 1-0.

It was back-and-forth in the second set early on as the set was tied at 10-10. The teams continued to trade points with each other, as Wooster held a slight advantage at 21-20. The Fighting Scots scored the final four points of the set, winning the set (20-25), taking a commanding 2-0 lead.

The Bearcats battled in the third set as they found themselves with a 20-17 lead. Wooster went on to score eight of the next 11 points to win the set (23-25) and the match over Saint Vincent 3-0.

GAME 2- Westminster 3, Saint Vincent 0

Saint Vincent fell by set scores of 20-25, 17-25, and 21-25 in their second match of the day.
Â
Meegan Williams and Poach both totaled seven kills, while
Maya Martell recorded six kills. Martell also recorded a team-best three blocks for the Bearcats.

Eagler and Poach led the way in assists for Saint Vincent with 11 each. Ramos had 19 digs and Williams tallied nine.

It was back-and-forth in the first set as the set was tied 11-11. Westminster scored the next four points, before taking a 24-15 lead in the set. Saint Vincent wouldn't go down without a fight, scoring the next five points to cut the Titans lead to four, but Westminster ended the set on the next point as the Bearcats fell in the opening set (20-25), as Westminster took a 1-0 lead.

It was all Titans in the second set as they took a 3-0 lead to open the set up and never lost the lead. The Bearcats fell in the set (17-25), falling behind 2-0 in the match.

In the third set, it looked as if the Bearcats were going to take the set as they led 18-12. A late 13-3 rally by Westminster allowed the Titans to come back to win the third set (21-25) as the Bearcats fell 3-0.
The Bearcats will travel to Penn State-Altoona on Tuesday, September 25 for another non-conference matchup against the Lions. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Altoona.
