Men's Tennis Wins Second Consecutive Match to Open Season

WESTMINSTER, Md. (Sept. 22)- The Saint Vincent men's tennis team won their second consecutive match to open the season with a 6-1 win at McDaniel on Sunday aftenoon.

The Bearcats (2-0) won two of the three double matches to earn the doubles point, before they went on to win five of the six singles matches to cruise to the victory over the Green Terror (0-4).

In doubles play, August Lawrence and Deven Summers picked up the first win of the afternoon for SVC with a 6-2 win in number three doubles. After the Bearcats fell in second doubles, Matthew Sadusky and Brady Johnson recorded a 7-6(7-5) win in the top doubles spot to secure the doubles point for the Bearcats, giving them a 1-0 lead in the match.

Braden Yokopenic put the Bearcats up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-1 win in third singles. Sadusky followed picking up his second win of the afternoon with a 6-2, 6-4 victory in the top singles spot as SVC went up 3-0.

Brian Lee clinched the match for Saint Vincent with a 6-4, 6-1 victory in the second singles position as the Bearcats led 4-0.

With the match already in hand, Jack Citrone earned a 6-0, 6-2 victory in number five singles play. Johnson followed with his second victory of the afternoon, earning a 6-2, 6-2 win in fourth singles.

William Hinkson fell in a tough 6-4, 1-6, 7-10 defeat in the sixth singles spot to end the match.

The Bearcats return to action on Thursday, October 3 as they travel to Waynesburg. The match at Waynesburg is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
