Bearcats Win Convincingly in Non-Conference Clash Against Carlow

LATROBE, Pa. (Sept. 7)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team enjoyed a dominant 5-0 non-conference win over Carlow in Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (1-0-2) spent most of the 90-minutes in their offensive zone, outshooting Carlow (1-2) by an impressive 24-1 margin, including 11 shots on goal for Saint Vincent. The Celtics lone shot was counted as on goal.

Cameron Mulvanny had a big day for the Saint Vincent offense, scoring two of the Bearcats' five goals on the afternoon. Along with Mulvanny, Javier Torres, Mattia Speretta, and Bruno Hurtado all found the back of the net as well. Hurtado also assisted on a goal.

Kelvin Aguilar-Contreras, Oziel Bonola-Soriano, and Javier Tinoco all assisted on goals in the win for Saint Vincent.

Kameron Rock and Grant Archuleta split the game in goal with Archuleta making the lone save on Carlow's only shot.

Mulvanny quickly got the scoring started for SVC, scoring just over four and a half minutes into the game, giving the Bearcats a 1-0 lead.

Five minutes later, Torres followed with his first of the season coming on a pass in the crease from Hurtado as Saint Vincent led 2-0. SVC wasn't quite done in the half. As they were continuing to apply pressure, Mulvanny scored his second of the day, this one on an assist from Aguilar-Contreras as the score increased to 3-0.

Just over 45-seconds later, Hurtado scored SVC's fourth goal on a pass from Tinoco as the Bearcats led 4-0 with 20 minutes still left in the half. Despite holding possession of the ball in their offensive zone in the remaining 20-minutes, the Celtics defense held strong as SVC went into the half with a 4-0 advantage.

Saint Vincent scored just one goal in the second half, and it came off the foot of Speretta just over seven minutes into the half. Speretta's goal was assisted by Bonola-Soriano. The Bearcats had scoring opportunities over the final 38 minutes of the half, but once again the Celtics defense kept them from adding anymore goals, but the Bearcats still won convincingly.

The Bearcats led Carlow in almost every statistical category. Corner kicks were 8-1 in favor of Saint Vincent. Carlow committed six fouls in comparison to SVC's nine.

SVC will enjoy the next couple of days off, before playing host to Fredonia on Tuesday, September 10. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. on UPMC Field as Saint Vincent looks to keep their unbeaten record alive.
