Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Noah Aftanas

Women's Volleyball Competes in California

LA VERNE, Calif. (Sept. 7)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team concluded their trip to California, falling to both Redlands and Pomona Pitzer.
 
The Bearcats (3-4) were swept by both Redlands (2-3) and Pomona Pitzer (4-3) in the final match of the day.
 
Game 1- Redlands 3, SVC 0
The Bearcats fell in their opening match of the day in straight sets, by scored of 11-25, 15-25, and 15-25.
 
Dakota Hershberger led the way for Saint Vincent, recording nine kills in the match. Lauren Fox also added eight kills and Meegan Williams totaled four of her own.
 
Madia Eagler and Sani Jones both recorded double digit assists with 15 and ten assists respectively. Stacie Ramos led the Bearcats with 15 digs, while Williams totaled nine. Aubrey Siwula also totaled eight digs for Saint Vincent.
 
Redlands led Saint Vincent in almost every category. They had 46 digs in comparison to Saint Vincent's 44. They also led assists 35-26 and kills by a 38-27 margin.
 
The Redlands had a strong .323 hitting percentage, while the Bearcats hit just .084.
 
Game 2- Pomona Pitzer 3, SVC 0
It was much of the same story in the Bearcats second contest of the day. Pomona Pitzer won in straight sets by scores of 13-25, 15-25, and 12-25.
 
Williams led the Bearcats with five kills in the loss. Kaelyn Staples-Klasnic along with Fox both had four kills.
 
Ramos recorded double digit digs for the second match in a row with 11, while Staples-Klasnic added seven and Sani Jones had four digs. Eagler followed up with 12 more assists in the second game of the day as well.
 
The Bearcats recorded 23 kills and had five blocks in comparison to just three from Pomona Pitzer. Saint Vincent also totaled 19 assists and 37 digs. Pomona Pitzer on the other hand had 52 assists, 65 digs, and 54 kills.
 
The Bearcats will now return home to take on Pitt-Greensburg in a non-conference matchup on Thursday, September 12. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at UPG on Thursday night.
