WASHINGTON, Pa. (Oct. 15)- The Saint Vincent women's soccer team earned a 3-1 Presidents Athletic Conference victory at Washington and Jefferson on Wednesday night.
The Bearcats (11-2-1, 5-1-1 PAC) led 1-0 at the half. After allowing an early second half goal to W&J (4-8-2, 1-4-2 PAC), Saint Vincent scored two late second half goals to earn them the PAC road victory.
Emma Koller scored two of the Bearcats three goals, scoring the first and last of the game.
Jordan Kirkwood added a goal and an assist for SVC as well.
Rilyn Warner picked up the victory in net for the Bearcats, making three saves. Kirkwood and Koller led SVC with five shots on goal each, while
Addie Fisher added two of her own, and
Ava Azurin and
Elizzabeth Wilson recorded one each.
It was a quick start for Saint Vincent as Koller scored her first of the day just eight minutes into the opening half to give Saint Vincent a 1-0 lead. That 1-0 lead would hold for the entirety of the half for the Bearcats.
W&J tied the game up with a goal early in the second half, making the score 1-1 in the 48th minute.
After back-and-forth play, the Bearcats took full control late in the game. In the 79th minute, Kirkwood scored what turned out to be the game winner, putting SVC up 2-1. Koller followed with an insurance goal on an assist from Kirkwood in the 84th minute to secure the Bearcats 3-1 road victory.
SVC significantly outshot W&J by a wide 19-6 margin, including 14-4 in shots on goal. Corner kicks were 5-0 in favor of Saint Vincent.
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, October 18 with a home matchup against Westminster. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at UPMC Field on Saturday evening.
