LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 8)- The Saint Vincent women's tennis team swept La Roche in a doubleheader on senior day at the SVC Courts on Wednesday evening.

The Bearcats (9-6) won both matches by a 6-1 final over the Red Hawks.

Match 1- Saint Vincent 6, La Roche 1

In the opening match of the day, the Bearcats won two of the three doubles matches to win the doubles point. Caroline O'Connor and Bella Baumgardner earned a 6-0 win at number two singles and Rebecca Kurylo and Cloie Causer picked up a 6-0 victory in third doubles to put SVC up 1-0.

In singles play, Carolina Walters continued her dominant senior campaign, earning a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the top spot. O'Connor added a 6-0, 6-0 win in third singles, while Baumgarndner also won 6-0, 6-0 in the number four singles spot.

Kurylo added a 6-0, 6-1 victory in number five singles and Causer picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory in six singles to help the Bearcats cruise to the victory in the opening match.

Match 2- Saint Vincent 6, La Roche 1

It was much of the same story in the second match of the day with Saint Vincent cruising to their second win of the day.

In the second match of the doublheader, SVC won all three doubles matches. Walters and O'Connor teamed up for a 6-2 victory in the top doubles spot. Ashley Thiel and Sydney McWreath added a 6-1 victory in number two doubles and Baumgardner and Emily Pierce recorded a 6-0 victory in the third doubles spot.

In singles, Walters picked up her second 6-0, 6-0 victory of the day in the top singles position. O'Connor followed with a 6-2, 6-0 victory in number three singles and Baumgardner added a 6-0, 6-3 victory in the fourth singles position.

Kurylo picked up a 6-0, 6-1 victory for SVC in number five singles and Thiel earned a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the number six singles spot for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats have earned the number six seed in next week's PAC Tournament and will travel to take on third seeded Franciscan on Tuesday, October 14. The start time of the match is to be determined.
