HIRAM, Ohio (Nov. 11) – The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team dropped a four-set match to top seeded Hiram College on Tuesday evening, falling 3-1 (23-25, 16-25, 22-25, 21-25) in the Presidents Athletic Conference Quarterfinals.
With the loss, the Bearcats conclude their season 9-15 overall and 7-9 in PAC play.
Saint Vincent came out strong, taking the opening set 25-23 behind an efficient attack and steady defense. The Bearcats tallied 14 kills in the frame while holding Hiram to a .121 hitting percentage.
The Terriers, however, responded by taking control of the next three sets, using a balanced offensive effort to secure the victory. Hiram hit .279 in the second set and .250 in the fourth while finishing the night with 68 kills compared to Saint Vincent's 53.
Meegan Williams led the Bearcats with 20 kills and 19 digs, while
Lauren Fox added 13 kills. Setter
Sani Jones dished out 28 assists and recorded four digs, and
Vivian Wirth posted a team-high five blocks.
For Hiram, Sofia Smotek and Maggie Riley each totaled 21 kills to pace the Terrier offense.
