LATROBE, Pa. (Nov. 8) – The Saint Vincent men's swim team earned a convincing 194-26 win against Allegheny on Saturday afternoon.
The Bearcat men opened the meet with a victory in the 400-yard medley relay, as
Liam Randolph,
Owen Echegaray,
Hayden Klein, and
Gabe Yant combined for a winning time of 3:53.55. The Saint Vincent "B" relay team also impressed, placing second in 4:00.50.
William Schauss led the way individually, winning the 200 freestyle in 1:52.95 and later capturing the 100 freestyle in 50.75.
Giovanni Guido added a runner-up finish in the 200 free, while
Joseph Borneman and
Soma Burt joined Schauss at the top in the 100 for a 1-2-3 Saint Vincent sweep.
Borneman also won the 100 breaststroke (1:04.64), while Randolph delivered a standout performance, taking first in the 200 butterfly (2:06.67), 200 breaststroke (2:17.17), and 200 IM (2:06.23).
Echegaray and
Alex Leskovansky went one-two in the 100 backstroke, while Guido and
Evan Zeni followed with a 1-2 finish in the 200 backstroke. The Bearcats also dominated sprint events, as
Landon Kirkpatrick (23.22), Yant (23.58), and Klein (24.10) swept the top three spots in the 50 freestyle.
The distance group added more victories, with Klein (5:28.24), Max Huck (5:28.27), and Yant (5:35.71) finishing 1-2-3 in the 500 freestyle. In the 100 butterfly, Schauss (54.48),
Jacob Dzurica (56.63), and Borneman (59.22) posted another sweep.
Saint Vincent closed the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay, as Guido, Burt, Dzurica, and Echegaray touched first in 3:28.71. The Bearcats' "A" relay followed closely in 3:31.72, capping off a dominant afternoon.
The Bearcats return to action on Friday, November 21 competing in the three-day Blue Devil Invitational in Fredonia, New York.
