LATROBE, Pa. (Nov. 8)- The Saint Vincent women's swimming team turned in a 159-83 against Allegheny in a PAC meet on Saturday afternoon in Latrobe.
Rachel Hutchinson led a strong distance showing by winning the 1000 freestyle (11:38.05), followed by
Addison Boswell in second (12:29.24).
The Bearcats also controlled the 200 freestyle, as
Fallyn Zembiec earned the victory in 2:08.94, with
Brook McDermott (2:13.34) and
Ava Sutter (2:15.59) finishing third and fourth, respectively.
Zembiec later added another win in the 50 freestyle (26.74), with Sutter (27.02) right behind in second.
Adrianna Grimm swept both backstroke events, taking the 100 backstroke (1:06.02) and 200 backstroke (2:24.94), while
Cecilia Hickin and
Deanna Miller added valuable team points in each.
Emma Martz had a standout day, claiming victories in the 200 IM (2:24.04) and 100 freestyle (59.34), while finishing second in the 100 breaststroke (1:15.45).
Teresa Grimm won the 200 butterfly (2:45.74), and the Bearcats added a 2-3 finish in the 200 breaststroke with Miller (2:41.78) and
Teresa Grimm (2:48.75).
In the middle-distance freestyle events, McDermott (5:56.96) and Boswell (6:00.41) went 1-2 in the 500 freestyle.
The women closed out their meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay, as Sutter, Zembiec, Hickin, and Grimm posted a time of 3:59.25, with the "B" relay team placing third.
The Bearcats return to action on Friday, November 21 competing in the three-day Blue Devil Invitational in Fredonia, New York.
