LATROBE, Pa. (Nov. 8) – The Saint Vincent men's basketball team opened the 2025-26 season with a wire-to-wire win, defeating Carlow University 85–68 on Saturday evening inside the Robert S. Carey Student Center.
The Bearcats (1-0) blitzed the Celtics with a 43–20 first half, shooting 55.0% from the field and turning 23 Carlow turnovers into 34 points to seal the non-conference victory.
Mike Iuzzolino paced Saint Vincent with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including 5-of-7 from three and 3-of-3 at the line.
Jaden Gales added 12 points and four rebounds, while
Terek Crosby chipped in 10 points off the bench.
Jevontae Jones scored nine with five rebounds, and
Maxwell Gordon filled the box score with eight points and a game-high seven assists.
Saint Vincent controlled the opening 20 minutes with 55% shooting and six made threes to lead 43–20 at the break. The Bearcats pushed their advantage behind balanced scoring after halftime and, despite a late Carlow surge, closed out the 17-point win.
The Bearcats finished 33-for-60 (55.0%) from the floor, 9-for-20 (45.0%) from three and 10-for-15 (66.7%) at the stripe, adding 40 points in the paint, 13 second-chance points, 11 fast-break points, and 36 bench points.
Carlow shot 27-for-59 (45.8%) overall and 5-for-15 (33.3%) from deep. Rebounds favored Carlow 37–30.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Monday, Nov. 10, hosting Thiel in a non-conference matchup. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Robert S. Carey Student Center on Monday night.
