BETHANY, W.V. (Dec. 14)- The Saint Vincent men's basketball team earned a 93-75 road Presidents Athletic Conference victory at Bethany on Sunday afternoon.
Saint Vincent (5-3, 2-0 PAC) controlled led by ten (53-43) at the half before out scoring the Bison (3-6, 0-1 PAC) 40-32 in the second half to cruise to the conference victory.
Jaden Gales had a huge game for the Bearcats off the bench. The senior forward recorded a 27-point, 10-rebound double-double, while also adding three assists as well.
Dev Ostrowski added 14 points, three rebounds, and four steals for the Bearcats as well.
Jevontae Jones (13 points) and
Terek Crosby (12 points) both scored in double figures as well.
Mike Iuzzolino scored 10 points and
Maxwell Gordon had a solid all around game with seven points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.
The Bearcats were an efficient 49% from the field and 48% from beyond the three point arc in the victory. Bethany slightly out rebounded the Bearcats (37-36) over the course of the game.
It was a back-and-forth opening 12 minutes of play as the Bearcats held a slight 28-27 lead. Over the final eight plus minutes of the half, Saint Vincent outscored Bethany by a 25-16 margin to hold that 10 point lead (53-43) going into the half. Jones led Saint Vincent with 13 of his points in the opening half, while Gales was in double figures with 12 points.
It was all Saint Vincent in the second half. Saint Vincent's lead was in double figures for the majority of the half as the closes Bethany got was within nine points early in the half.
SVC scored 21 points off turnovers, while picking up 11 steals on their defensive end as well.
The Bearcats go into Christmas with a perfect 2-0 record in PAC play. Saint Vincent will now head to the sunshine state to compete in the Cruzin' Classic in Miami. The Bearcats will take on Vermont State-Lyndon on Friday, December 19 at 4 p.m. They will follow that up against the #24 ranked team in the country in Tufts on Saturday, December 20 at 3 p.m. Both games will be played at St. Thomas University.
