GROVE CITY, Pa. (Feb. 25)- The Saint Vincent women's basketball team fell to Grove City by a score of 58-38 in the Presidents Athletic Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday night at Grove City.

Emily Thompson led the Bearcats with 12 points, while
Camdon Bashor added 11 points.

It was a tough opening five and a half minutes for the Bearcats offensively. The Wolverines quickly got off to a 7-0 advantage by the first media timeout. Over the span, the Bearcats were 0-7 from the field with three turnovers.

Thompson finally got the Bearcats on the board with a three ball to end the Bearcats over six-minute scoreless drought to cut the lead to 7-3. The Bearcats offensive struggles continued over the next two minutes of the quarter as well.
Reese Gadsby connected on a jumper at the foul line with about 20 seconds left and after a stop the Bearcats trailed 11-5 at the end of the opening quarter.

Saint Vincent shot just 2-11 in the quarter, turning the ball over eight times to Grove City's five. The Wolverines weren't much better offensively in the quarter, shooting just 5-25 (25%).

The offensive struggle continued over the first three minutes of the second quarter as both teams were held scoreless. Bashor finally hit a deep two-point jumper to end the scoreless drought, cutting the lead to just four at 11-7.

However, on the Wolverines next two possessions on their offensive end they hit back-to-back threes to push the lead to ten at 17-7 halfway through the quarter. Over the next several minutes the low scoring affair continued as the Wolverines still led by 10 at 21-11 with a minute and a half to go in the opening half.

The Bearcats cut the lead to eight (23-15) by halftime after a layup from Thompson with just under a minute to go.

In the opening half, Saint Vincent shot just 28% (7-25) from the field, while Grove City shot 25% (9-36). Both teams turned the ball over 11 times in the half, while the Bearcats were outrebounded by a 29-16 margin.

It was all Wolverines out of the gates in the second half. Grove City quickly got off to a 6-0 run in the opening two minutes of the second half as the Bearcats trailed 29-15. Bashor got SVC on the board after a layup on the Bearcats next possession down the court, cutting the lead to 12 at 29-17.

The Wolverines continued to increase their lead over Saint Vincent after a quick 5-0 spurt pushed their lead to 34-17, their largest lead of the game to that point with 6:14 remaining in the third quarter.

Over the remainder of the third quarter, SVC slightly outscored the Wolverines 10-9, but the Grove City lead was 43-27.

In the fourth quarter, Grove City continued to attack the Bearcats, closing out the game, handing Saint Vincent the 58-38 loss. The Wolverines outscored the Bearcats 15-11 in the final quarter.

Saint Vincent shot just 30% from the field in the loss and were outrebounded by a 51-33 margin.

Saint Vincent closes the season out with a 13-13 overall record and 12-8 record in PAC play.
