OBERLIN, Ohio (March 12)- The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team fell on the road at Oberlin by a score of 15-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bearcats (2-3) were shut out in the first half, trailing 5-0, before they were outscored by Oberlin (4-1) 10-3 in the second half.
Jonathan Nagy and
Liam McCall both totaled two points each for the Bearcats in the loss. Nagy scored two goals, while McCall scored a goal and dished out an assist and scooped up one ground ball.
Carter Haid and
Jacob Crumling both picked up assists in the loss as well.
Mason Krabbe added four ground balls and one caused turnover for SVC. Haid,
Zander Vetter, and
Isaiah Francis all scooped up three ground balls each in the loss as well.
Garrett Ritts took the loss in net, making 14 saves, while also scooping up a team-high five ground balls.
It was all Oberlin in the opening half as they scored three goals in the first quarter and two in the second to hold a 5-0 lead going into the half.
They went on to score the first three goals of the second half as well as Saint Vincent trailed 8-0, before Nagy ended the shutout, scoring on an assist from Crumling. Oberlin went on to outscore the Bearcats 3-1 the rest of the way in the quarter as they held an 11-2 lead going into the fourth. The Bearcats second third quarter goal came from McCall.
Oberlin outscored SVC 4-1 in the fourth quarter as well to hand the Bearcats the loss. Nagy scored the Bearcats lone goal of the quarter on an assist from McCall.
Saint Vincent was outshot 53-26 in the loss. Oberlin scooped up 44 ground balls to SVC's 31 as well. Saint Vincent was 1-3 on extra man opportunities.
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, March 15 with a home matchup against Susquehanna. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at UPMC Field on Saturday.
