GREENSBURG, Pa. (March 15)- The Saint Vincent men's tennis team earned a 7-0 Presidents Athletic Conference victory against Waynesburg at the Greensburg Racquet Club on Satuday afternoon.
The win moves Saint Vincent to an impressive 10-1 overall record and 1-0 in PAC play.
The afternoon started off with Saint Vincent winning all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point. At third doubles,
Jack Citrone and
Brady Johnson earned a 6-2 victory.
Braden Yokopenic and
Matthew Sadusky followed with a 6-4 victory in the top doubles spot to clinch the doubles point for SVC and put Saint Vincent up 1-0.
Brian Lee and
J.T. Gockel added a 6-1 win in number two doubles for the Bearcats.
In singles play, SVC went up 2-0 in the match after Sadusky picked up his second win of the afternoon, this one coming in the number two singles spot. Sadusky earned a 6-0, 6-1 victory for Saint Vincent. Yokopenic followed with his second victory of the afternoon as well, earning a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top singles position.
Kyle Murray clinched the match for Saint Vincent with a 6-0, 6-0 win at number six singles. SVC's lead went to 5-0 after Lee picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory in number three singles and Citrone followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win at number five singles.
SVC's final win of the afternoon came in number four singles as Johnson picked up a 6-1, 6-1 victory to earn the seven point sweep for SVC and a win in their PAC opener.
Saint Vincent will return to action on Saturday, March 22 with another home PAC matchup, this one against Franciscan. First serve against the Barons is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the SVC Courts next Saturday.
