Men's tennis falls in home PAC matchup to Franciscan, 4-3

GREENSBURG, Pa. (March 22)- The Saint Vincent men's tennis team fell to Franciscan 4-3 in a tight Presidents Athletic Conference matchup at the Greensburg Racquet Club on Saturday afternoon.

The Bearcats (10-2, 1-1 PAC) fell in two of the three doubles matches, before splitting the singles matches in the tight loss to Franciscan (4-4, 1-0 PAC).

To begin doubles play, Kyle Murray and Brady Johnson picked up a 6-4 win at number three doubles. SVC fell at number one and two doubles then as the Barons took the doubles point and the Bearcats found themselves trailing 1-0.

Saint Vincent picked up the first two wins in singles to jump out to a 2-1 lead. First, Jack Citrone earned a 6-3, 6-0 win at number five singles, followed by a 6-2, 6-1 victory for Murray at number six singles, to pick up his second win of the day.

Franciscan followed with a win at number four singles, followed by number two singles to regain a 3-2 lead. Matthew Sadusky kept Saint Vincent alive in the match with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-3 win at number three singles to tie the match at 3-3.

With the match coming down to the top singles spot, Braden Yokopenic fell in a tough back-and-forth match by a score of 7-5, 4-6, 4-6.

SVC will return to action on Monday, March 24 with a trip to Geneva for another PAC match. The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. in Beaver Falls on Monday night.
