Men's tennis downs Geneva in road PAC matchup

BEAVER FALLS, Pa. (March 31)- The Saint Vincent men's tennis team defeated Geneva 5-2 in a Presidents Athletic Conference matchup on Monday evening in Beaver Falls.

The Bearcats (12-2, 2-1 PAC) came from behind to defeat Geneva (2-7, 0-3 PAC) on the road on Monday. SVC lost the doubles point, falling in two of the three doubles matches, before winning five of the six singles matches to earn the conference win.

Kyle Murray and Brady Johnson opened the day for the Bearcats with a 6-2 win in third doubles. However, the Golden Tornadoes went on to win in first and second doubles to win the doubles point as SVC trailed 1-0 in the match.

Jack Citrone tied the match up at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-1 victory in fifth singles. Murray followed with his second victory of the evening with a 6-1, 6-1 win in six singles to put Saint Vincent up 2-1 in the match.

After a loss in the top singles spot, Brian Lee picked up a 6-2, 6-3 victory at second singles to put SVC back in the lead at 3-2. Matthew Sadusky clinched the match for Saint Vincent with a 6-1, 6-0 victory in number three singles to put SVC up 4-2. 

Brady Johnson added a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the fourth singles spot for Saint Vincent to make the final score 5-2 and give the Bearcats their second PAC victory of the season.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Tuesday, April 1 with a home PAC matchup against Westminster. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at the SVC Courts on Tuesday afternoon.
