LATROBE, Pa. (Apr. 1)- The Saint Vincent men's tennis team earned a shutout 7-0 win against Westminster in a Presidents Athletic Conference matchup on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bearcats (13-2, 2-1 PAC) won two of the three doubles matches before winning all six singles matches as well to cruise to the 7-0 victory.
In doubles play,
Kyle Murray and
Brady Johnson opened with a 6-1 victory in number three doubles play. After a loss in the top doubles spot,
Jack Citrone and
Matthew Sadusky clinched the doubles point for SVC with a 6-2 victory in second doubles to put Saint Vincent up 1-0.
Braden Yokopenic put the Bearcats up 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the top singles spot. Murray followed with his second win of the day with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in number six singles play to push the lead to 3-0. Johnson clinched the match with his second win of the day, earning a 6-1, 6-1 win at number four singles play.
Sadusky followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory at number three singles to move the Bearcats lead to 5-0.
Brian Lee added a 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 win in second singles and
Jack Citrone earned a 7-5, 6-4 victory to clinch the win for the Bearcats.
Citrone is now tied for second all time in wins in program history.
Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday, April 4 with a PAC matchup at Washington and Jefferson. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. on Friday in Washington, Pa.
